Beginning of August 2013 CAPcargo could launch the development of the CAPcargo own Graphical Planning Board. With this step the new way of resource planning within the CAPcargo suite is coming closer.
The set targets were clear: giving the dispatcher the total picture of the planning stage on a single graphical view. Showing potentials for improving the planning. Supporting the human being in making the right decisions by providing nice and simple tools like drag & drop functionality. And all this within AX, not in an additional external – to be synchronized – tool.
Many inputs coming from existing and new customers have been taken into account while designing the new planning board. The result of the design is amazing and the market feedback very positive.
After the summer break our development team could finally start the real development phase. Foregoing a longer research period was needed to confirm the major technical assumptions, since in many technical areas we entered new territories (not only for CAPcargo). With closing the first development phase in these days, the outcome is becoming visible. Beat Pallagi, responsible within CAPcargo for research and development, is mentioning: “The evidence is adduced that we can bring the power of specialized (graphical) user interfaces right into AX while having only one central data base. All screens can cooperate and interact in a flexible manner. Great to see the results!”
The following 2nd phase will mainly bring additional features, which are already existing and often used in the old style planning form. Our product team has received encouraging inputs from customers who have seen already a first version. It is foreseen to start implementing the Graphical Planning Board in a first pilot project during March 2014.
